How Bilby works

Deck, railing and gate costs

Price the timber surface once

Deck pricing starts with the net timber platform, including joined pool surrounds where applicable. Overlapping timber areas are united and water openings removed. Railings can be included as details in the deck parent; gates and stairs have their own scope.

Platform, supports and finishing

The ordinary native platform covers pressure-treated boards, frame, low supports, fixings, normal delivery and erection. Raised support above 0.60 m adds a provisional support allowance; above 1.5 m needs particular structural review. Skirting is exposed perimeter × support height. Timber and glass rails differ; gate openings reduce rail length. Brown stain or white paint on timber rails adds an actual coating allowance. A visual platform colour does not automatically buy a complete deck coating contract.

Measure exposed and net geometry

New timber decks start across the rear house wall when a house with known dimensions is placed. That starting width and door-level position affect area and support quantities; review them before comparing budgets. The connection itself is not a separately priced feature. When terrain cannot resolve height, the reference uses an editable 0.30 m support assumption. It is not a measurement.

Native platform or reference

Native low-support platform = max(SEK 25,000 / 40,000 / 60,000, area × 1,700 / 2,500 / 3,500). The ordinary national platform reference instead uses minimums 10,000 / 15,000 / 25,000 and rates 1,800 / 2,700 / 4,000. Native coordinated timber railing is metres × 1,200 / 2,000 / 3,000 without its standalone minimum. Glass, fallback timber rails, raised supports and skirting use separate references. The retained native surface takes precedence when its geometry matches.

Illustrative 30 m² platform

A fictional eligible native 30 m² low deck is SEK 51,000 / 75,000 / 105,000. Ten metres of coordinated natural timber railing adds 12,000 / 20,000 / 30,000, giving a deck parent of 63,000 / 95,000 / 135,000. Its railing detail is included, not added again. A timber pedestrian gate, if selected within its scope, is a separate 4,000 / 7,000 / 11,000. This example excludes skirting, coating and stairs.

Check the support and contract

Long thin decks, high supports, uncertain terrain or unresolved overlaps may use provisional references rather than the ordinary native specification. Cosmetic choices and actual coating operations are different. A pool basin never becomes timber area. Confirm loading, guarding, permits and supplier inclusions before replacing the estimate with a scoped quote.

Method and review

Reviewed 18 October 2026: planner installed models active from 4 September and national references researched 16 September 2026. The receipt identifies the actual selected path and its assumptions. These are modelled installed consumer prices, not a supplier quote for your exact platform.

The review date covers this explanation and its implemented method. Price and data dates are stated separately in the article.
