How Bilby works

Trees, shrubs and hedges

Price the size you intend to buy

Trees, bushes and hedges in the planner receive installed planting allowances under landscaping. The chosen height describes supplied nursery stock, not the size a young plant might reach later. A 7 m tree therefore receives a large-specimen reserve. This distinction can change the budget far more than moving the object across the plot.

Plants, handling and exclusions

Ordinary planting allowances include the plant, planting labour and soil improvement; young trees include normal staking. Larger tree bands allow specialist delivery and handling but do not guarantee available stock, survival or crane access. Existing-tree removal is site clearance. Irrigation and establishment guarantees are separate. A bush uses one ordinary shrub allowance even if its appearance is resized; the normal specification is roughly 0.6–1.2 m supplied height, so a much larger bush needs a reviewed price.

Measured and supplied inputs

A hedge route uses its net length after gate openings. Rectangular hedge objects use their supplied length.

Size bands and hedge rows

Trees up to 3 m use young birch (2,500/5,000/10,000 SEK) or young oak (3,500/7,000/14,000). Above 3 to 5 m uses 10,000/20,000/45,000; above 5 to 8 m 30,000/75,000/180,000; above 8 m 80,000/200,000/500,000. Oak versus birch changes the young-tree model only. One bush is 800/1,800/4,500 SEK. Hedge cost is max(minimum, equivalent metres × rate). Height up to 0.8 m selects small, above 0.8 but below 1.5 m medium, 1.5–2 m ready-grown, and above 2 m or width above 1 m tall. Rates per equivalent metre are 500/900/1,600; 1,000/1,800/3,000; 3,000/4,500/6,500; and 5,000/8,000/14,000 respectively. Width multiplies the length continuously; it does not round to a whole number of rows. No separate hedge-species price is calculated.

Minimum hedge charges

Small, medium, ready-grown and tall hedge models apply minimums of 3,500/6,000/10,000; 5,000/8,000/14,000; 8,000/12,000/20,000; and 12,000/20,000/35,000 SEK respectively. For a short route the minimum can dominate the metres-based result. The three values always mean low/expected/high for the same model, not three charges. Shared delivery is allowed within ordinary planting scope; exceptional dedicated mobilisation is not guaranteed by these minimums.

Illustrative hedge

A fictional 10 m hedge supplied 1.8 m high and 0.8 m wide has 10 equivalent metres. The ready-grown minimums are 8,000/12,000/20,000 SEK; length pricing is higher, giving 30,000/45,000/65,000 SEK. At 1.6 m width, the model selects the tall-stock band and 20 equivalent metres: 100,000/160,000/280,000 SEK. This is an explicit wide-stock reserve, not a nursery quote.

Confirm stock and access

These low-confidence procurement scenarios widen sharply for large specimens because matching delivered stock is uncertain. Invalid size inputs produce a provisional default and warning without rewriting the chosen geometry. Coordinates alone do not reprice a tree for access or soil. Replace the allowance with a nursery/landscaper quote covering delivery, machine access, planting and aftercare.

Plant sources and method date

Code reviewed 18 October 2026; national planting references researched 16 September 2026. Blomsterlandet’s birch specification and Häckspecialisten’s finished hedge illustrate supplied size and product scope. Bilby adds modelled handling and planting; these sources do not verify the large-tree reserves.

The review date covers this explanation and its implemented method. Price and data dates are stated separately in the article.
