How Bilby works

Electricity connection costs

Analysis and budget use different evidence

The listed-plot electricity analysis checks a current network-operator match and nearby-building evidence before using a standard connection benchmark. The project budget can instead use distance scenarios when no project-specific cost exists. Neither identifies an actual connection point from a line drawn in the planner. Network connection distance and the private trench across the plot are different inputs.

Connection fee and exclusions

The versioned reference concerns a 16–25 A electricity connection in 2026. It excludes the customer’s on-plot excavation/cable scope, recurring network fees, house wiring and special remote network extensions. A benchmark is a regulatory comparison basis rather than an operator’s accepted offer. The estimate does not establish available capacity or a construction schedule.

Why the budget can differ from the analysis

The project budget deliberately does not reuse the listed-plot standard-band amount inferred only from nearby buildings. It retains an actual stored operator amount when available and otherwise uses explicit budget distance scenarios. Coordinate-analysis electricity also leaves the budget connection amount open for those scenarios. A 53,750 SEK analysis indicator can therefore coexist with a wider budget reference without either being an additional charge.

The two methods

The default budget distances are declared assumptions; the nearby-building count is a proxy, not a measured cable route.

Nearby-building proxy and 2026 bands

With a current matched operator, available benchmark and more than five buildings within 250 m, the listed analysis assumes at least one building lies within 200 m and uses the fixed standard-band amount with medium confidence. At five or fewer it requests an operator quote and supplies no longer-distance formula. The budget fallback uses the following net formulas, then × 1.25 for VAT: up to 200 m, 43,000; over 200–600 m, 43,000 + 369 × (d − 200); over 600–1,200 m, 190,600 + 953 × (d − 600); over 1,200–1,800 m, 762,400 + 562 × (d − 1,200). These 2026 bands were checked against Energimarknadsinspektionen on 18 October 2026.

Illustrative distance scenarios

With fictional assumed distances 200/300/600 m, low/expected/high are 53,750/99,875/238,250 SEK including VAT. Expected is (43,000 + 369 × 100) × 1.25 = 99,875. These values vary distance, not statistical confidence. If the actual distance is supplied as 300 m for all scenarios, all three benchmark amounts become 99,875. Separately, a qualifying listed-plot building proxy uses 53,750 at both endpoints; it does not use the 300 m budget assumption.

Unavailable and remote connections

Stale operator data, missing building evidence or an unknown operator can leave the analysis amount unavailable. The budget may still carry an explicitly provisional reference. Beyond 1,800 m or outside the 2026 year, the implementation uses a labelled specialist reserve rather than presenting the extrapolation as an official tariff. Confirm actual distance, capacity, scope and VAT with the operator. Moving a house may change on-plot works without changing network connection evidence.

Version and review

Method reviewed 18 October 2026: nearby-building method v1 and national electricity reference for 2026, valid through 31 December 2026. Source verification above checks benchmark coefficients; it does not turn assumed distances into surveyed network data. A project-specific amount is retained ahead of the national reference and its original source/date remains relevant.

The review date covers this explanation and its implemented method. Price and data dates are stated separately in the article.
