How Bilby works
Carport costs
Roof and supports, with a separate parking surface
The carport line prices an open timber structure with roof, posts, normal footings and erection. Selected side/back screens add a measured allowance. The ground surface beneath the carport belongs to the driveway or other selected surface, so a carport does not automatically buy another slab or paved area.
Included and optional
Normal gutters, roof and ordinary support foundations are included. Enclosed storage, a full garage enclosure, lighting, EV charging, service trenches and major ground correction are separate. Flat versus pitched roof and the palette of finishes remain within a broad appearance allowance. Screens are different: the selected faces create extra installed area.
Area and selected faces
The calculation assumes a 2.2 m screen height. Its resulting screen-area assumption can be edited in the reference details; this is not a measured wall drawing or a separate height control.
| Input | Unit | Origin |
|---|---|---|
| Footprint | m² | Width × depth |
| Open / back / back and side screen | choice | User |
| Screen face | m² | Width, or width + depth, × assumed 2.2 m |
| Supplier inclusions | scope | User/contract |
Native structure and screen addition
The native low/expected/high calculation is fixed 15,000/25,000/35,000 SEK plus 1,800/2,700/4,000 SEK/m². It covers ordinary 12–60 m² carports, shorter side at least 2.5 m and aspect ratio at most 4:1. A fallback reference uses area × 2,500/4,000/6,500 with minimums 45,000/65,000/100,000 SEK. A screen adds 700/1,200/2,000 SEK/m² in either case. The selected back uses width; back and side use width + depth, rather than all four sides. Foundations remain owned by the carport parent.
Illustrative screened carport
A fictional 5 × 5 m native carport costs 60,000/92,500/135,000 SEK. A back screen is 5 × 2.2 = 11 m² and adds 7,700/13,200/22,000. Total: 67,700/105,700/157,000 SEK. Adding a side would double screen area for this square example. Neither total includes the driveway surface.
Review foundations and supplier scope
The ranges represent installation scenarios, not structural approval. Snow loads, wind exposure, unusual spans and poor soil require supplier design. Missing dimensions or an unsupported shape can produce a provisional reference; it is not a guarantee that the standard product fits. A manual or supplier price replaces the corresponding scope, and included footings must not be charged twice.
Method date
Code reviewed 18 October 2026: native open-timber carport V1 and the national September 2026 reference collection. Roof/posts and screening are modelled installed allowances. Byggmax ByMe’s garage and carport products provide product scope context, not confirmation of the complete installed totals. Product quotations must establish snow-load specification, foundation scope and delivery rather than treating the visual roof as an engineered design.
The review date covers this explanation and its implemented method. Price and data dates are stated separately in the article.
