How Bilby works

Geotechnical investigation costs

Budget for new site evidence

The investigation allowance reserves money for a geotechnical commission. Existing maps, modelled depth and nearby boreholes can inform the need for investigation; they are not the same as purchasing a new investigation on your plot.

Check the parent groundwork scope

The native groundwork estimate can already contain an investigation component. A separate budget investigation row then explains included scope rather than automatically adding another commission. A supplier or consultant quote should state fieldwork, reporting and any design advice. Environmental contamination testing, specialist stability studies and repeated visits should not be assumed to fit an ordinary allowance.

Why an allowance appears

Soil family and evidence risks select an investigation severity. A number in the budget does not specify a drilling programme.

Fixed scenarios, not a borehole count

Native levels are: low need SEK 0 / 0 / 0; recommended 0 / 15,000 / 30,000; strong 15,000 / 30,000 / 60,000; required 30,000 / 60,000 / 100,000. These are scenario allowances inside the native total. If an applicable independent reference is needed, the national ordinary investigation allowance is SEK 40,000 / 60,000 / 95,000. Native or project evidence and budget ownership decide which is counted.

Illustrative inclusion check

A fictional native groundwork estimate with “strong” investigation contains SEK 15,000 / 30,000 / 60,000 for this scope. Showing the independent 40,000 / 60,000 / 95,000 reference for comparison does not make the expected investigation cost SEK 90,000. If a separately scoped actual commission is SEK 52,000, reconcile it with the existing package before replacing the applicable allowance.

What the estimate cannot establish

Access, number and depth of tests, groundwater observations, laboratory work and reporting scope change a real quote. A zero low scenario means the model considers a less demanding case; it does not waive an engineer’s requirements. Changing house colour does not change this allowance. Missing local evidence is a reason to review scope, not to label the plot investigated.

Method and source scope

The review date covers this explanation and its implemented method. Price and data dates are stated separately in the article.
